Nokia has appointed Paul Chapple general manager for Nokia Products Ltd., Canada. Chapple has held various positions at Nokia since joining the company in 1999, including business development director for the T-Mobile account team, director of product marketing for Symbian/Series 60, and manager of US business development and product marketing for Nokia Wireless Software Solutions. In his new position he will be responsible for all aspects of the Canadian Nokia mobile products organization, including Canadian strategy development, sales and channel execution, marketing, operations, product testing, and customer support. Marc Girard has been named senior VP and CFO of SR Telecom Inc., effective August 15. Most recently, Girard was president and CFO of Aeroplan Income Fund, and previous to that was VP and treasurer of Quebecor Inc. and held various senior positions within the BCE Group of companies. Girard will succeed Peter Campbell who has served as interim CFO since December 2005 and will stay with SR to complete the financial reporting for the second quarter. Vancouver-based Infowave Software Inc. has appointed Claudia Ng VP product management. In her new position, Ng will be responsible for driving the direction of mobile field service solutions to the market. She brings over ten years of senior-level experience to the company, including founding and leading FatPort Corp., Canada’s largest Wi-Fi hotspot provider. Ng has also held senior positions at ActiveState, Blast Radius and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. She was recently selected as one of Business in Vancouver’s top 40 under 40 entrepreneurs. Greg Celmainis has resigned from the board of directors at Ignition Point Technologies Corp. Vancouver-based Ignition Point provides unique access and applications solutions to wired and wireless network service providers. Duane Sniezek has been appointed director Calgary Operations at TRLabs. He will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, conducting and expanding TRLabs Calgary’s technology and applications research program, and enhancing productive industry, government and university research relationships. Sniezek joined the company in 2001 as manager technology transfer and has 25 years of experience in the technology industry in senior management positions. Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. has appointed Martin Carsky to the company’s board of directors as chair of its audit and governance committee. Carsky is the president, CEO and CFO of Cryopak Industries Inc. and has more than 15 years of corporate finance and management experience including capital markets, corporate development and restructuring experience with Cryopak., Anthem Works Ltd. and Alderwoods Group Inc. He is also a director of Kruger Capital Corp., the Vancouver chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and the Pacific Otolaryngology Foundation. Voice Mobility International Inc. has announced changes to its board of directors. Gary Donahee, former executive VP and president of the Americas for Nortel Networks, has accepted the role of chairman of the board. Donahee is replacing Don Calder, who is stepping down as chairman but remaining on the board. As well, Bill Krebs, one of the original founders of Voice Mobility, is stepping down from the board. Jan S. Rynkiewicz has been promoted to president and CEO of Stream Communications Network and Media Inc., replacing Iwona Kozak who will continue to serve on Stream’s board in the capacity of executive director and corporate secretary. The board of Stream believes the president and CEO should be located in the country of its operations where crucial strategic decisions and negotiations take place. Vancouver-headquartered Stream is a broadband cable company that offers TV, high-speed Internet and VoIP services in Poland. Richard Sarnoff, president of Random House LLC, has been elected the non-executive chairman of the board of VOCEL. Sarnoff has served as a director of the board and in 2005 led a round of funding for the company. William C. Weiss was also elected as vice chairman of VOCEL’s board. Weiss is the chairman and CEO of The Promar Group LLC and has been providing corporate leaders and investors with counsel and execution assistance for more than 30 years.
