John Roese has been named CTO at Nortel Networks Corp. with responsibility for the company’s overall research and development strategy and execution across all product portfolios. As well, he will have the task of working closely with the chief strategy officer on emerging technologies, market opportunities and strategic partnerships. Roese joins Nortel from Broadcom Corp. where he was VP and CTO for network technologies with a focus on unified communications. Prior to that, he was principal architect of Enterasys’ user-personalized networking and secure networking. There, he also oversaw long-term and tactical technology strategy. "He will play a pivotal role on the team as we work together to drive leadership in next-generation mobility, enterprise infrastructure and services and applications," Nortel chief executive Mike Zafirovski said in a news release. Wireless security provider Bulldog Technologies Inc. has announced a reorganization of senior management as part of a corporate restructuring. John Cockburn, CEO, has agreed to step down to focus more of his attention on expanding sales and distribution channels in Latin America and in developing distribution opportunities in Europe. Robin Wald, current CTO, has been appointed acting CEO and will remain in the position until a replacement can be found. Matthew Yoon has been terminated as CFO. Bulldog has opted to use a consultant during the transition rather than hire a new CFO. Shareholders of Dexit Inc. elected a new board of directors this month. John McBride, managing director of CC Capital Group, has been elected chair of the board. Other new members include Murray Sinclair, managing director of Quest Capital Corp., Robert Cudney, president and CEO of Northfield Capital Corp., Loudon Owen, managing director of McLean Watson Capital, and Thomas Plasden, a consultant. Shareholders voted for a new board to help Dexit better exploit its asset base. McBride said in a news release, "I look forward to an immediate and comprehensive review of Dexit’s operations, assets and financial position, however, our first priority will be to ensure that the company’s current strategic relationships and opportunities being pursued remain intact." Michael Bordelon has been appointed to the board of directors of Spotwave Wireless. He is the former corporate VP and GM of the mobile devices business at Motorola Inc. Bordelon also spent more than 20 years at the company in a variety of senior management posts. Behrooz Parsay has been appointed VP of engineering with Aperto Networks, a provider of WiMAX base station and customer premise equipment. The company also announced that Subir Varma has been named VP of technology, responsible for advanced technology planning, acquisition and development. Parsay has previously worked at a number of high-profile wireless companies including L3 Communications, Ericsson, DIVA, Kestrel and Lantern Communications. David Stratton has been appointed VP of sales at GPS Industries Inc. He will be based in the company’s Vancouver head office. Stratton has 20 years experience in GPS and technology sales, most recently serving as VP of sales for Navitaire Inc. He also held senior sales positions in the UK with Tri-Mex and in the US with travel and transportation company Sabre Inc.
