Alliance Atlantis’ Motion Picture Distribution Inc. (MPDI), which oversees the Movie Distribution Income Fund and Motion Picture Distribution LP, went through a serious shakeup recently with the resignations of president and CEO Patrice Theroux and chairman and director of the board Victor Loewy. By way of explanation, a media release issued by the fund simply reads: "The Motion Picture Distribution Board concluded a management change was necessary and in the best interest of MPDI." Appointed to the role of interim CEO at Motion Picture Distribution LP is John Bailey, 29-year film industry vet whose CV includes chairman and CEO at Famous Players, senior VP of financial planning at Los Angeles-based Paramount Pictures Corp., and senior VP at Madison Square Garden owner Gulf and Western Entertainment Group.
