Mitec Telecom Inc. has appointed Daniel Piergentili as president and CEO effective immediately, returning to the company after a nine-year absence. The appointment was announced on August 15. Keith Findlay, who was acting in these positions, will now assume a consulting role with the Montreal-based company. Piergentili joins Mitec from Ericsson Inc., where he held a number of positions in wireless and satellite communications product development. He joined Mitec in 1992 as director of engineering and was subsequently promoted to the position of VP responsible for all wireless and satcom business units. TelePlus Wireless Corp. has announced the departure of president Kelly McLaren. She will be replaced by current COO Tom Davis. The company has also announced that John Tsokos has been appointed director of marketing. TelePlus Wireless Corp., is a subsidiary of TelePlus Enterprises Inc. His primary responsibilities will be managing brand and marketing initiatives aimed at increasing Liberty Wireless’ recognition in the market, driving handset sales and building brand equity. Prior to joining the company, Tsokos was senior designer with Rogers Media where he worked with Colgate, Proctor & Gamble and Universal Pictures. Unity Wireless Corp. has announced the appointment of three new members to its board of directors. David Goldschmidt is CEO of Mofet Israel Technology Fund, a publicly traded venture capital fund in Israel. He also has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked at ADC Telecommunications and Teledata Communications. Ran Shahor is managing partner of Star Ventures, an Israel-based venture capital firm. Prior to this, he was in charge of R&D activities for the Israel Defense Force. Gal-Or is a managing partner with Infinity Venture Capital, a venture capital firm in Israel. Previously, he was CEO of MATI High Tech Group and was chair of the board for the nationwide Israeli Business Development Center. Sandford Preizler has been appointed VP of worldwide channels for Symbol Technologies Inc., He will oversee the company’s PartnerSelect Program and be responsible for driving business by enabling partners that deploy enterprise mobility solutions that bring efficiency and product to customers. Prior to this appointment, Preizler was VP of worldwide RFID sales for Symbol, a position he held since March 2005. Previously, he worked at Cisco Systems
