Jason Roks has been named chief technology officer at Independent World Television, a non-profit online alternative news media organization. Roks was a key figure in and co-founder of Toronto-based file-sharing pioneer Hotline Communications, and has been featured in such publications as Wired, Time and Maclean’s. He most recently helped plan and execute the New Media Business Alliance’s iSummit conference this spring as event producer. He also sits on the technical advisory council at the Canadian Film Centre’s Habitat New Media Lab, and is a founding volunteer of Wireless Toronto.
