Debbie Lawes – Co-Owner, Publisher, Managing Editor
An alumni of Carleton University’s master of journalism program, Debbie has worked as a professional journalist and editor for over 20 years. She started her career writing for suburban newspapers in Ottawa in the late 1980s and it was in 1992 that she began reporting on the Canadian communications industry as a writer for Evert Communications, founder of four of Tech Media Reports’ publications. While at Evert, she played a key role in launching three of those publications: Canadian Communications Reports (CCR), Report on Wireless (ROW) and Canadian New Media (CNM). Following Decima Research’s purchase of the publications in 2000, she joined Decima as publisher and managing editor. Debbie has also written extensively on research and development issues, as senior editor and later consulting editor of RE$EARCH MONEY, as editor of Canada Research Horizons and as president/owner of Dovercourt Editorial Services, an Ottawa-based communications company specializing in writing, editing and publishing newsletters, magazines and other communications vehicles.
