Astral launches third all-HD service
Brief | February 14, 2007
Astral Media Inc.’s The Movie Network has launched MMore HD, a new around-the-clock pay TV channel dedicated to high-definition programming. The service will aggregate HD content from Astral’s multiplex line-up of services: MMore; MExcess, which specializes in action films; MFun!, a comedy-focused channel; and MFest, dedicated to foreign and independent cinema. "HD is an absolute priority for us," Astral Television Networks senior VP of marketing and sales Domenic Vivolo said in a media release. "In fact, Astral Media has made an unparalleled commitment to HD and we can proudly claim that we have more HD channels and, justifiably, more HD content than any other broadcaster in Canada." The channel launched on February 1 on the Rogers Cable network in Ontario, and joins The Movie Network HD and MPix HD as the third in Astral’s stable of all-HD offerings.
