Silk FM makes a smooth move to Standard
Brief | February 14, 2007
Kelowna BC soft adult contemporary station 101.5 CILK-FM, or Silk FM as it’s known to listeners, is now a member of the Standard Radio Inc. family of radio stations. The station joins Standard’s two existing radio properties in the Kelowna area: the hot adult contemporary-themed 99.9 Sun FM and Oldies 1150 AM. Silk FM has been on the air since 1985 except for a brief spell in 2003, when a brush fire in the Okanagan Valley knocked its transmitter out of commission. "This is a terrific opportunity that will allow us to combine our resources to provide better services on and off the air and more programming diversity to our audiences," Standard Radio president and CEO Gary Slaight said in a media release announcing the acquisition.
