Vidéotron Tests Wideband Network
Brief | March 1, 2007
Is wider better than broader? Vidéotron ltée seems to think so. The Montreal-based cableco is testing a new 100 Mbps wideband network with the help of several hundred customers in Quebec. The network features hardware and software from Cisco Systems Inc. that gathers together bandwidth at Vidéotron’s premises into a fat pipe accessible by customers with wideband modems. Such a service would allow users to download a full-length Hollywood feature in approximately two minutes.
