Verizon Wireless launches mobile TV service
Brief | March 12, 2007
Verizon Wireless officially went live with its new V Cast Mobile TV service on March 1 in select American cities. The service, which is hosted by technology partner MediaFLO USA, is in test mode only because the 700MHz spectrum that MediaFLO uses must first be cleared of the existing TV broadcasters. At the time of its launch, V Cast Mobile TV featured eight channels, which run 24/7, with programming coming from CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox, MTV, NBC News, NBC Entertainment and Nickelodeon. Customers can get the V Cast Mobile TV service on their phones for $15 a month, or they can bundle unlimited Mobile TV, regular V Cast services and mobile Internet for $25 a month.
