CTV sets sail with Burnett’s Pirate Master

Brief | March 16, 2007

CTV Inc. has concluded a second deal with reality TV producer extraordinaire Mark Burnett Productions – this time, it’s for a new pirate-themed series titled Pirate Master: The Adventure Begins. The show will put 16 contestants aboard a pirate ship in the Caribbean to compete for $1 million worth of booty, with weekly elimination rounds winnowing down the sailors until only three remain. All the while, the contestants will rely on a map and a compass to explore a tropical island in search of buried treasure. The series is scheduled to air on CTV this summer. "Pirate Master promises to be jolly good summer fun," said CTV president of programming Susanne Boyce in a media release. "It’s complete escapism and will make for rollicking summer viewing."
