Nuevo Mundo TV a first in Canadian industry

Briefs | 03/16/2007 5:00 am EDT

Quebec cableco Vidéotron ltée recently launched the country’s first 100% Spanish television channel produced in Canada. Nuevo Mundo TV debuted March 13 on channel 269 of Vidéotron’s illico digital cable service, and will progressively be distributed across the country. The channel, which broadcasts exclusively in Spanish, offers more than 50% Canadian-produced content and targets a core audience of recent Hispanic immigrants and Canadians who are interested in Spanish culture. The channel broadcasts Canadian news, special reports, youth programs, talk shows, feature stories, films and documentaries, and language courses.
