Revenues, profit up in Q2 for Corus

Corus Entertainment Inc.'s consolidated revenues increased 6% to $174.7 million in the second quarter ended February 28 compared to $164.4 million in the same quarter last year. The Calgary-based company's consolidated segment profit jumped to $47.3 million, a rise of 12% from $42.2 million last year. "Excellent specialty television advertising growth and solid segment profit contribution from all our divisions contributed to our strong second quarter results," said company president and CEO John Cassaday. Of the company's main segments, Corus Content experienced the largest revenue increase in the quarter, up 15% to $17.3 million from $15.1 million last year.
