Forbearance trifecta

Canada's three largest incumbent telephone companies have all launched forbearance applications. Bell Aliant Regional Communications was the first to apply on April 11 for a number of exchanges in and around Halifax. Telus Corp. followed suit later that evening with applications covering Vancouver and Edmonton. Bell Canada pulled up the rear, announcing April 12 that it had applied for forbearance in six cities. The CRTC now has six months to rule on the applications.
