CanWest hearing delayed

The CRTC has announced the public hearing to consider the application by CanWest MediaWorks Inc. to acquire Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc.'s broadcasting companies has been postponed due to the late filings of additional documents. The hearing, which was to take place on September 6, will now be held on November 19. CanWest 52 documents containing more than 300 pages with marked changes late last week. "The CRTC has determined that the extent of the new information is such that interveners should be given a fair opportunity to comment on these documents," read the press release from the commission. Interested parties now have until October 10 to submit any amendments to their interventions, while CanWest may take until October 22 to file amendments to its reply comments.
