Astral bolsters affiliate sales and marketing department

Astral Television Networks has appointed Mark Waschulzik and Leanne Shearer to the positions of director of affiliate marketing and affiliate sales representative, respectively. Both appointments are in the broadcaster's affiliate sales and marketing department. In the newly-created role of director, Waschulzik will manage departmental spending, initiate promotional plans to attain subscriber targets, align Astral's sales and marketing efforts with other departments and oversee the coordination of affiliate events. Shearer will be responsible for all Canadian Cable Systems Alliance members and will oversee accounts such as SaskTel, MTS, Telus and various western-based Family Channel affiliates. "Our business continues to grow with the launch of new services and channels such as HD and On Demand which in turn requires direct, consistent and personalized interactions with our affiliates," said Stephen Green, Astral's VP of Sales and affiliate marketing, in a news release. "I am confident that Mark and Leanne will leverage their experience and successes to date to bring new and strategic thinking to our business and innovative programmes to our clients."
