Roy named chair of Telefilm board

People | 10/15/2007 2:45 pm EDT

Minister of Canadian Heritage Josée Verner announced on Friday the appointment of Michel Roy as chair of the board of directors of Telefilm Canada. A 40-year industry veteran, Roy worked in television production in the 1960s creating more than 60 programs for Radio-Canada. He then assumed the positions of Quebec's deputy minister of tourism from 1989 to 1991, deputy minister of communications from 1994 to 1996, and delegate of the Quebec government in Chicago from 1994 to 1996. More recently, Roy produced two jazz albums, and he is now focused on writing. "Michel Roy's experience in public administration and his interest in the arts, television, music, and writing will make him a chair who is able to convey his knowledge to other members of the board of Telefilm Canada," said Verner in a press release.
