Hatem leaving CANARIE

René Hatem is leaving his position as CTO at CANARIE Inc. in early January to launch Canadian P2P Fibre Systems Ltd., an Ottawa-based start-up offering dark fibre to organizations. Hatem has spent more than 12 years at CANARIE, where he participated in the building of community, regional and national data networks, both within Canada and internationally. He has also worked with regional advanced networks on design and technical policies as well as overseeing the engineering and day-to-day operational management of the CANARIE network infrastructure and its operations centre. Bill St. Arnaud, CANARIE's chief research officer, will assume the CTO's responsibilities on an interim basis.
