Weather Network leverages social networking

Briefs | 03/24/2008 7:40 pm EDT

The Weather Network and MétéoMédia last week launched an interactive weather application on social networking site Facebook. Available in English and French, the application allows users to view weather conditions and forecasts for any of more than 5000 cities around the world within their Facebook profile. Users can also send messages and current forecast information to  their Facebook friends. "We believe this new application will quickly become a favourite among Facebook users," says Carrie Lysenko, manager of online applications for The Weather Network and MétéoMédia. "This is just another way we are responding to the needs of Canadians by providing convenient access to their most reliable and trusted weather information."
