Canwest Broadcasting has announced that Global News and CHEK News have won five 2008 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the US Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). The awards include: Best Newscast, Overall Excellence and Best Spot News for Global BC; Best Investigative Reporting for Global News Ontario; and Best News Documentary for CHEK News Vancouver Island. The Edward R. Murrow Canadian awards will be presented at the RTNDA Canada National Conference in Ottawa in June. The RTNDA is the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism, representing local and network news professionals in broadcasting, cable and other electronic media in more than 30 countries.
