Pelmorex’s emergency alerting services now available nationally

Briefs | 06/24/2008 7:28 pm EDT

Pelmorex Media Inc. has announced that its public safety and emergency alerting services will now be available across Canada. The move comes close on the heels of the company’s expansion into New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. Pelmorex, which owns The Weather Network/MétéoMédia, said through its data feed, TV broadcasters, radio, cable and satellite companies can create systems that will enable automatic access to emergency and public safety messages for dissemination over their networks. The alerting service, which is free, will enable Environment Canada and provincial authorities to reach a much wider audience during adverse weather conditions or natural calamities.
