New management team at Bell

Confirming Canadian telecom's worst kept secret Bell Canada announced that George Cope has taken over as president and CEO of the beleaguered firm from Michael Sabia. Cope was also appointed to Bell's board of directors. The company also unveiled a new management team.Trevor Anderson, executive VP of networks, has been with Bell since 1971 and served in a wide range of technology and network leadership roles across multiple Bell businesses. He was previously senior VP of technology.Stéphane Boisvert, president of the enterprise division, has held this position since 2006. He previously 20 years at IBM and Sun Microsystems, and served as chair of Sun Microsystems Canada.Charles Brown, president of the small and medium business division as well as Bell West, joined Bell in 2006 as president of Bell Western Region. A manager at BCE Mobile and Bell Mobility early in his career, Brown has held senior executive positions with communications companies such as Clearnet Communications and Trillium Communications.Michael Cole, executive VP and CIO, has been with Bell Canada in 1991, serving in several groups including network and customer operations, and business planning and information systems. He was most recently senior VP of operations.Kevin Crull, president of residential services, has held this position since 2005 and is responsible for wireline voice, Internet access and portal services and the Bell video group. He has more than 20 years experience leading sales, marketing, and operational teams, including nine years in major consumer telecommunications businesses.Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility and Channels as well as chief brand officer, joined Bell is in 2006. A telecom veteran of more than 20 years, Oosterman began his career as an executive with Bell Cellular Distribution Services Inc. and later became executive VP of sales and marketing at Clearnet a position he held followed the acquisition of Clearnet by Telus Corp.John Sweeney, president of the wholesale services division, joined Bell in 2006 as senior VP of the carrier services group. He has worked in telecom since 1973, including as VP and GM of Motorola Canada, division GM for Motorola's global iDEN business, and president of Kaval Wireless Solutions.Mary Ann Turcke, executive VP of field services, joined Bell in 2005, and most recently served as VP of experience and operations for the SMB sector. She previously worked A.T. Kearney Management Consultants and as VP of operations and GM of Internet Pictures Corp.Martine Turcotte, executive VP and chief legal & regulatory officer, joined BCE in 1988 as legal counsel and has served with BCE companies including Bell Canada International, BCE Media and Bell Canada. She was appointed chief legal officer of BCE in 1999.Siim Vanaselja, executive VP and CFO, joined BCE in 1994 and has held a variety of senior positions in the company, including executive VP and CFO of Bell Canada International. He was appointed CFO of BCE in 2001, has served as CFO for BCE and Bell Canada.David Wells, executive VP of corporate services, returns to Bell, where he spent the first 25 years of his career. He joined Bell Cellular in 1985, and later worked as CFO, CIO and executive VP of resources at Bell Mobility and as president and CEO of Mobility Canada. He served as executive VP of corporate services at Clearnet and later served in the same role at Telus Mobility.
