Auction Day 39: AWS auction comes to an end

After nearly eight weeks of bidding, Industry Canada‘s Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum auction came to a close on Monday morning. It generated more than $4.25 billion in revenue for the federal government and opened the Canadian wireless market to more competitors including cable companies Shaw Communications and Bragg Communications as well as other new comers such as Globalive Communications and Data & Audio-Visual Enterprises Wireless (DAVE).
