CRTC rejects Telelatino applications

Applications for licences to operate three new ethnic category 2 speciality channels by Telelatino Network Inc., have been rejected by the CRTC. The speciality channels would broadcast in English but cater exclusively to Canadians of Italian and Hispanic origin. In a decision released on August 14, the Commission said it turned down the applications because the channels will compete with existing category 1 or analog pay or specialty television service.
