Alberta introduces new R&D tax credit

Alberta companies that conduct research and development will soon be able to apply for a 10% refundable tax credit on eligible expenditures up to $4 million annually. Modeled on the federal government Science Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit, the new Alberta credit will come into effect Jan. 1, 2009 and apply to expenditures incurred in Alberta after Dec. 31, 2008.
