Brief | February 5, 2009
In the wake of gloom and doom at CanWest, brought about by massive job cuts amidst dwindling advertising revenues, the media giant’s online network Canada.com has registered a 39% growth, representing 5.7 million visitors to its network of 80 websites which include Global TV, speciality television sites, and Dose.ca. According to figures from ComScore, visitors to CanWest’s ten metro newspaper sites reached 2.9 million in Dec.2008, representing a 54% growth, placing CanWest’s main newspaper portal ahead of giants like the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail and the New York Times.
