Guy Mayson, president and CEO of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association has announced his departure after 12 years of service. As president Mayson was instrumental in fighting for benefits for producers under the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and enhancing the Canadian Television Fund. In addition he was instrumental in negotiations of fair Terms of Trade agreements with broadcasters. In a statement, Sandra Cunningham, Chair of the CFTPA, said Mayson’s knowledge in public policy was crucial to the growth of the production sector. “While Guy is stepping aside from day to day operations, we are happy he will continue to serve as a strategic advisor during our planned transition,” she said, adding that a successor will be announced soon. Mayson is expecting to take on new challenges in the communications sector, but did not specify.
