BDUs, producers and programmers square off in battle for Cancon and advertising on VOD

Two of Canada’s big cablecos are cautioning the CRTC against changing the existing video-on-demand regulatory framework and adopting rules that restrict the growth of VOD and its expansion onto digital platforms. Cable giants Rogers Communications Inc.  and Shaw Communications Inc. say the current VOD model works just fine and a light handed regulatory approach that allows market forces and consumer demand to spur growth is what the industry needs.
