Telus has been granted an exclusive licence by Microsoft Corp. to introduce its HealthVault personal health record platform in Canada. Telus says it plans to market personal health records – under the Telus Health Space brand – to governments, health regions, hospitals, insurers and employers. The service also will include chronic disease management, pediatric care and wellness products. “What was once thought impossible is now a reality. Canadians have been demanding the ability to manage their health electronically and soon they will be able to do it with a life-long record provided by Telus,” Francois Cote, president of Telus Health Solutions, said in a release. Currently, there are already over 60 companies delivering online solutions for the HealthVault platform in the US. The move into Canada represents the service’s first expansion outside the US.
