WIND Mobile, which describes itself as Canada’s newest mobile phone company, is opening a call centre in Peterborough which will employ 200 people. “As a new wireless company that is in the process of preparing for launch, I am thrilled that WIND Mobile has chosen our community and our people to help them build their businesses,” said Dean Del Maestro, MP for Peterborough. Over the next 12 months, the company plans to increase its workforce to 2,000 employees from the current 250. It also plans to invest about $1 billion over the course of one year. The Peterborough call centre will be managed by Teleperformance, a call centre management company, which plans to initially start operations with 40 people.
