The Canadian New Media Awards (CNMAs) has announced nominees for 2009 in 19 categories. The nominees will receive their awards at the CNMAs gala scheduled for Dec. 1 at the Toronto Design Exchange. Jointly presented by CNMA and nextMEDIA—an organizer of conferences for executives in the broadcast, telecom and new media fields—the awards recognize a slew of companies across Canada, for their successes and innovation in the interactive media industry. “As Canada’s only nationwide new media competition of its kind, we’re proud of the achievements that this country’s innovators have to offer,” says Mark Greenspan, Executive Producer of nextMEDIA. “This year, we’re pleased to showcase some of the best work from many cutting-edge companies.” Three new categories have been introduced this year: best online video portal, best mobile application, and brand of the year.
