Toronto start-up Vortex Mobile has appointed mobile industry veteran and former Nokia executive, Kamar Shah as its new managing director, responsible for business development, sales and marketing strategy. Shah comes to Vortex with more than 15 years experience in mobile services, most recently as the global head of industry marketing at Nokia. Previous positions include head of mobile games, digital advertising and sponsorship, where he launched some of the first mobile services in Europe. “Vortex presents the perfect opportunity to deliver the types of mobile consumer propositions we have been talking about for years,” Shah said in a statement. “We're going to recreate the media toolkit and build meaningful consumer relationships that incorporate mobile messaging, mobile Internet, advertising, ecommerce and social media application development.” Vortex Mobile provides marketing and technology solutions that activate brand communications across the mobile channel, with clients such as Labatt's, Rogers, Dell, Scotiabank and Publicis Modem.
