Bell Canada, Rogers Communications Inc. and Telus announced Wednesday the completion of two-way mobile video calling trials between competing carriers. Mobile video calling is currently available through several carriers, but users must be with the same carrier and have compatible handsets. The new service, once launched, will allow two-way video calls between different carriers’ networks. Bell Mobility chief technology officer Stephen Howe said in a release he anticipates strong demand for the service. The new service will be launched for consumers later this year, Telus media relations official Jeremy Baxter told The Wire Report.
