A major European wireless operator has announced that it will use Bridgewater Systems’ Policy Controller system to help it come under compliance with new roaming regulations in the European Union. The Policy Controller system notifies customers immediately when they have reached a designated threshold with their roaming service. The system will help prevent surprise roaming charges and give customers the option of extending their roaming service while on the go. New European Union roaming rules require carriers to allow their customers to set limits on roaming costs. When they pass the limit, the Policy Controller kicks in and gives the customer the option of extending it. Ottawa’s Bridgewater Systems creates technology to help mobile providers manage customer content and billing. Bridgewater would not identify the European wireless company Monday.
