Telus Corp. announced Wednesday that the company is investing $650 million this year to expand its network and improve its Telus TV service in Alberta. “Since 2000, TELUS has made more than $21 billion in operating and capital investments in Alberta," Darren Entwistle, Telus president and CEO, said in a release. An enhanced version of Telus TV uses Microsoft Mediaroom to allow a customer to use a single personal video recorder (PVR) for their entire home. The system can record shows on up to six televisions and as many as three shows at the same time. Telus also announced it will continue to expand its HSPA wireless network in the province. The 3G wireless network went live in November 2009, and provides download speeds of up to 21 Mbps. The company also said it will continue to fund charitable projects in Alberta throughout the year. Since 2000, the company has donated $56 million to charitable causes in Alberta.
