Shaw Communications Inc. announced Wednesday that it will be “the first communications provider in Canada to offer 3D-HD content” and that it will show the 2010 Masters Tournament in 3D. The broadcast distributor will provide about two hours of live 3D coverage of the tournament, scheduled for April 7-11, in Augusta, Ga. "We are thrilled to provide this inaugural, never-before seen footage to our HD customers in Western Canada," Shaw president Peter Bissonnette said in a release. Customers will need a 3D television, 3D glasses, and a Shaw HD cable box to view the tournament in the new format. “The limited 3D coverage will focus on the back nine holes of Augusta National Golf Club, allowing Shaw customers to experience the Masters in a completely new and engaging way, using different camera angles produced by the Masters,” the release said. The 3D programming will be available on Shaw HD channel 318, and will be offered in addition to Shaw HD and standard definition content.
