Cable alliance opposes Shaw’s free satellite plan

Shaw Communications Inc.’s plan to set aside $15 million in benefits for free satellite equipment for customers in rural markets would hurt small cable operators, the Canadian Cable Systems Alliance (CCSA) wrote in its final comments on the CRTC proceeding about Shaw’s $2-billion purchase of Canwest Global Communications Corp.
