The CBC announced Thursday it has made available 1,200 records released under the Access to Information Act. The records, which amount to 70,000 pages and date back to September 2007, have been posted on the public broadcaster’s website. Access to information records will be posted on an ongoing basis. In September, the Federal Court issued a decision that gives the Office of the Information Commissioner the authority to order the CBC to produce records. The broadcaster said it intended to appeal the decision, arguing the act allows it to excludes some records from release to protect its journalistic and programming independence.
