The CBC announced new details Thursday for its five-year strategy, emphasizing that the plan will increase the broadcaster's local reach. The CBC said it will introduce or improve services for more than six million Canadians over the next four years. The initiative is part of CBC’s commitment to its “2015: Everyone Every Way” strategy. The CBC said in a release that all-new radio and online services will be established in Kamloops, B.C. The CBC in Kelowna will also expand its service to include a new afternoon radio program focused on serving the British Columbia interior. “CBC Victoria's existing programming will be enhanced to better serve the specific needs of Vancouver Island audiences. Victoria and Kelowna's new programming will commence in fall, 2011, with Kamloops to follow in spring, 2012,” the release said. As part of the initiative, weekend news programs on television and expanded weekend news programming on radio as well as online will be launched in Toronto this fall and in Calgary by the winter of 2012, the CBC said.
