Videotron Ltd. announced Thursday that it had a total of 164,700 wireless subscribers at the end of the fourth quarter of 2011. The company also announced that it has expanded its mobile wireless services to the Outaouais region of Quebec, which includes communities such as Gatineau, Wakefield, and Maniwaki. Videotron, a subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., said it ended the quarter with 1,808,600 cable TV customers. It also had 1,267,100 Internet customers in the quarter ending March 31, including cable and mobile Internet services. Videotron said that it has released a new email or text notification tool for broadband subscribers to help them “make informed use of the Internet”--presumably a usage metering tool to ensure consumers do not exceed their bit caps. The company said it had 1,129,800 cable phone customers, an increase of 15,500, during the quarter.
