Rogers Communications Inc. announced Thursday an investment of $80 million in its mobile wireless network in the Maritimes. Rogers said in a release that the investment will bring the company's HSPA+ coverage to nearly an additional one million people in the Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. That represents a 130 per cent increase over the company's existing population coverage in the region, Rogers said. The company said the investment will be over two years and is part of a series of enhancements in the region. The companuy said work on enhancing its Maritime wireless network begins this month and will continue through 2012. "Maritimers told us they wanted better coverage, faster speeds and a greater selection of mobile devices," Ken Marshall, Rogers' president for Atlantic Canada, said in a release.
