Rogers Media announced Thursday that it will launch a new national bi-weekly sports magazine called Sportsnet. “Sportsnet magazine will play in the digital field via its online companion—sportsnet.ca,” Rogers said in a release. “The magazine will focus on the major professional leagues and the premier amateur events, with particular focus on the teams and stars that Canadians care most about.” Rogers, which owns the Sportsnet specialty channel network, said the magazine will launch in fall 2011. Sportsnet magazine will publish 26 times per year and will launch with a circulation of 100,000 copies, Rogers said. Rogers Media is a division of Rogers Communications Inc.
