Online streaming service Netflix Inc. reached one million members in Canada last month, the company announced Thursday, when Flin Flon Manitoba’s Amanda Bell James registered for the service. James received a lifetime membership to mark the milestone. “We’re thrilled that Canadians have embraced Netflix so rapidly, and we’re equally proud to have welcomed one million members in such a short period,” Reed Hastings, Netflix’s CEO and co-founder, said in a release. The company has 25 million members in the U.S. and announced last month that it would expand to 43 countries in Latin America later this year. Netflix hasn’t commented on where it will go next, but Variety reported that sources at European film distributors said the company was looking to expand to Spain and the U.K. early next year.
