Industry Canada has updated its list of available personal communications services (PCS) spectrum in the 2 GHz frequency range across the country. PCS spectrum is used for mobile phones and wireless Internet access. In a notice published Saturday, the department noted that it has made PCS licences available on a first-come, first-served basis since 2003, and will begin processing applications after a waiting period of 30 days from the notice's publication. The minimum annual fee for a licence is $1,000. The list features 33 blocks of spectrum in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Newfoundland and Labrador in the B3, C1, C2, D and E blocks.
