The CRTC announced Friday that it has approved three applications from Bhupinder Bola for various specialty channels. The applicant obtained a licence for The Work TV Channel, a national, English-language undertaking that would feature content about the world of work, jobs, unions, news and careers. The commission said it granted Bola two other licences for a Carribean HDTV channel and another called Chinese English News HDTV. Bola’s Carribean HDTV would be devoted to programming for the Carribean community and South Asians originating from India, the CRTC said. The commission said “80 per cent of the programming would be broadcast in the English language and the remainder in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.” The Chinese English News channel would feature news from mainland China and broadcast for the Chinese community in Canada, the CRTC said. The commission said it was satisfied that the applications of Bhupinder Bola comply with all applicable policies, terms and conditions.
