The CRTC has named Chris Seidl as its new acting executive director of telecommunications. The move comes as current director John Traversy prepares for his new position as secretary general, Chairman Konrad von Finckenstein told commission employees in a message Tuesday. The director general of convergence policy and a former Nortel director, Seidl has been with the commission since 2003, according to his LinkedIn page. The new appointment is effective Oct. 20 and will run for six months as the commission completes a competitive process for Traversy’s permanent replacement, von Finckenstein said in the email to staff. “Chris’ experience in telecommunications in both the CRTC and the private sector, as well as his recent work as Director General, Convergence Policy in PDR, will serve him well in his new functions for the next six months,” von Finckenstein wrote.
