BCE Inc. subsidiary Bell Media announced Wednesday new appointments to its independent production unit. The company said in a release it has realigned the unit "to reflect development and production of original Canadian production by genre across all Bell Media properties, representing a change from the previous channel-specific model.” The unit will be headed by Corrie Coe, senior vice-president of independent production, Bell said. Trish Williams was promoted to the position of director of independent production for drama and will be responsible for the development of dramatic material across Bell Media's channels. Joining Williams on the drama team are production executives Rebecca DiPasquale, Robin Johnston, Gosia Kamela, Mike Richardson and Angelika Walaszczyk. Sarah Fowlie has also been promoted to director of independent production for comedy with production executive Jake Labow and Kara Haflidson also on the comedy team. Bell has also appointed Susan Makela as director of Canadian programming management. Makela will direct independent production strategies and manage relationships with industry stakeholders, including funders, partners and competitors, Bell said.
