More than half of televisions on the market will be equipped with Google TV by next summer, Eric Schmidt, Google Inc.'s chief executive, said this month at Le Web conference in Paris, France. “By the summer of 2012, the majority of the televisions you see in stores will have Google TV embedded in it,” Schmidt said, according to a story this month by PaidContent. The comment suggests Google TV, which is not yet available in Canada, will be expanding to countries outside the U.S. next year. The Google TV aggregator is available through a Google TV box and through certain televisions, including some manufactured by Sony. Google released Google TV 2.0 in November, featuring a customizable home screen, shortcuts, and a new app called “TV & Movies” that offers access to 80,000 movies and TV episodes across cable and satellite services and websites.
