The CRTC said this week it will resume a proceeding to establish a model municipal access agreement. Municipal access agreements are negotiated between telecom carriers and municipalities for access to municipal rights-of-way such as street crossings “for the purpose of installing, operating and maintaining transmission facilities," the commission said. On Tuesday, the CRTC said it will continue looking at the issue through its interconnection steering committee. The commission said it is asking the committee to form an ad hoc working group to develop access terms and conditions to be included in a model municipal access agreement based on the Ledcor/Vancouver principles established in decision 2001-23. The working group will report back to the commission within 180 days of Tuesday's notice, the CRTC said.
