Rogers Communications Inc. is laying off about 300 employees, the company said this week. In an emailed statement to The Wire Report Thursday, Patricia Trott, a Rogers’ spokeswoman, said the layoffs will “focus on management” and other positions at the company’s Toronto headquarters. She said the layoffs are intended reduce inefficiencies and would affect several divisions of the company. “This was a difficult decision but it’s part of a continuous transition to streamline our operations and better focus resources on initiatives that have the most impact, reduce costs and improve productivity,” she wrote. “We are continuously looking to deliver more value for our customers and shareholders.” Rogers had 28,745 employees at the end of 2011, up from 27,971 at the end of 2010, the company's website says.
